A female victim reported to Memphis police that she was walking in the area of Jackson Avenue and Orichi when she was abducted at gunpoint by a man driving a work-type truck.
He drove her to to an unknown area where he forced penile/vaginal and penile/anal penetration.
The victim was examined at the Rape Crisis Center that day. The forensic examination revealed injuries to the victim’s vagina and anus. Evidence was collected from the victim’s body and was placed in a rape kit.

Memphis police sent the victim’s rape kit to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) for DNA testing. From that testing, TBI found a male DNA profile and uploaded it into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). TBI then determined Baker to be a match.
